Most agencies that run a client's YouTube channel spend their time on uploads, thumbnails and reporting. In 2026 YouTube changed all three. It opened AI dubbing to everyone, Arabic included, expanded testing, redesigned YouTube Studio's analytics, and tightened its rules on templated and AI-generated content. Here is what changed and what to do about it.
Auto dubbing, including Arabic
In February 2026 YouTube made auto dubbing available to everyone, in 27 languages. Its help page lists Arabic in both directions: English to Arabic, and Arabic to English. A more natural voice, which YouTube calls Expressive Speech, covers eight languages (English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish), not Arabic. Lip sync is in a pilot, and dubbed videos are labelled as auto-dubbed.
YouTube says more than six million viewers a day watched at least ten minutes of auto-dubbed content in December 2025, and that 51,000 Egyptian creators use it to translate Egyptian Arabic into English. For a Gulf brand, an Arabic channel dubbed into English, or an English one dubbed into Arabic, is now a setting rather than a production. The usual caution with machine translation applies: have a native speaker watch the dubbed version of anything important, especially product claims.
Title and thumbnail tests
YouTube's A/B testing lets a channel test up to three titles, three thumbnails or three combinations on one video. It runs on desktop with advanced features switched on, picks the winner by share of watch time over up to two weeks, and does not work on Shorts. Title tests opened to all eligible channels in December 2025. YouTube said in September 2026 that creators have run more than 40 million experiments since 2024, and that testing up to three cuts of a video, AI thumbnails in the channel's style, and thumbnails that change by audience are coming.
Studio's new Insights and Research tabs
In July 2026 YouTube began testing a redesigned Studio in which Analytics becomes Insights and the Trends tab becomes Research, which highlights videos performing unusually well. Channels with access to Ask Studio, YouTube's AI assistant for creators, also get AI summary cards on the channel, content patterns, audience loyalty and individual videos. YouTube confirmed the new tabs in September 2026, and they are rolling out gradually. If you export reports from Studio for clients, expect the layout to move.
Ask Studio itself is now available to most creators worldwide on the web, though not to channels made for kids or to creators under 18. We found no confirmation that it works in Arabic.
Music, likeness and AI labels
- Music claims: trade reports say YouTube is testing a button that generates four royalty-free instrumental tracks to replace a claimed song and release the Content ID claim, in the US and on desktop first.
- Likeness detection, which finds videos using someone's face without permission, expanded in May 2026 to all creators aged 18 and over. It needs a government ID and detects faces only for now; YouTube says voice detection is coming later in 2026. Brands whose founders or ambassadors appear on camera should enrol them.
- AI labels: since May 2026 the label for realistic AI content sits below the player on long videos and over the video on Shorts, and YouTube will add it itself if it detects undisclosed photorealistic AI. YouTube says the label alone does not affect recommendations or monetisation.
The rules on templated content
In July 2025 YouTube renamed its repetitious content policy as inauthentic content. In July 2026, according to TechCrunch's report of a YouTube policy lead's explanation, it refined the policy into three categories: generic or templated content; off-putting or emotionally manipulative content; and AI personas talking about health, legal, financial or political topics. Channels built on the same template video after video, or on an AI presenter giving advice, are the ones at risk of losing monetisation.
The Partner Program changes in 2027
YouTube announced in August 2026 that from 1 February 2027 new channels joining the Partner Program will need 1,000 subscribers and either 8,000 watch hours in the past 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days. Channels already in the program are not affected, but must accept the new terms by 31 January 2027. Earning from the Shorts revenue pool will need 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. For a new brand channel that plans to monetise, it is a reason to qualify before February.
A checklist for brand channels
- Turn on auto dubbing for evergreen videos in the languages the client's audience speaks, and have the Arabic reviewed.
- Run a title or thumbnail test on every major upload.
- Disclose realistic AI content at upload, rather than waiting for YouTube to label it.
- Avoid templated series, and AI presenters giving health, legal or financial advice.
- Enrol the faces of the brand in likeness detection.
