Campaign naming builder
One naming rule for every campaign, ad set and ad your agency runs, on Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Google and the rest. Build the names, copy the rule for the team, and check the names already in an account. Free, no sign-up.
- 1. Client
- 2. Market
- 3. Platform
- 4. Objective
- 5. Campaign name
- 6. Start month
As a UTM campaign: lumen_uae_meta_sales_ramadan_offer_202702. Use it in the UTM builder so the ads and Google Analytics agree.
Your naming rule
Campaign: client_market_platform_objective_campaign-name_yyyymm e.g. lumen_uae_meta_sales_ramadan-offer_202702 Ad set: market_stage_audience_placement e.g. uae_prospecting_women-25-34_auto Ad: creative_format_version e.g. iftar-table_video_v1 Separator "_", words inside a field joined with "-", all lowercase, no spaces.
Paste it into the team’s brief template or the client’s shared folder. The rule is kept in this browser for next time.
Check a name
What goes in each name
| Level | Fields | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | client, market, platform, objective, campaign, month | lumen_uae_meta_sales_ramadan-offer_202702 |
| Ad set | market, stage, audience, placement | uae_prospecting_women-25-34_auto |
| Ad | creative, format, version | iftar-table_video_v1 |
Why it pays off
- Reports build themselves. Export the account, split the names on the separator, and every row has its client, market and objective.
- The ads and Google Analytics agree. The campaign name becomes the utm_campaign value, so a click and a sale land against the same name.
- Anyone can pick it up. A new hire, a freelancer or the client can read what a campaign is without asking.
One rule across every client
Agree the rule once, put it in the onboarding pack, and use the checker on the names already in each account. Wiro keeps every client’s campaigns, ad spend and results in one place, under the same names.

What is a campaign naming convention?
An agreed order for the parts of a name, such as client, market, platform, objective, campaign and month, joined the same way every time. With one, anyone can read what a campaign is from its name, filter an account by market or month, and match the ads to the UTM tags in Google Analytics.
Underscores or hyphens?
Either, as long as it is one and never both for the same job. A common rule is underscores between fields and hyphens between the words inside a field (lumen_uae_meta_sales_ramadan-offer_202702), so a spreadsheet can split the name on the underscores.
Why lowercase?
Google Analytics treats Ramadan and ramadan as two different campaigns, and most filters are case sensitive. One case, used everywhere, keeps the numbers in one row.
Should the date be in the name?
For anything that repeats, yes: the same offer runs every Ramadan, and the month tells the two apart. Year first (202702) sorts in date order; a short form like feb27 is easier to read.
Is my rule saved?
In this browser, so it is there when you come back. Nothing is sent to Wiro. Copy the written rule to share it with the team.
