Your QR code

Good contrast. It will scan easily.

Static and free for good: what you typed is inside the pattern, so the code works without Wiro and never expires. The flip side is that it cannot be edited after printing; to change where it goes, print a new one.

Why static

A code that works for as long as you need it

Many QR sites hand out codes that point to their own server first, so they can count scans and let you edit the destination. It works until the subscription ends, and then every printed code stops. These are static: what you type is in the pattern, and there is nothing in between to switch off.

  • Never expires. No account, no plan, no redirect through Wiro.
  • Private. The code is drawn in your browser. Your Wi-Fi password or phone number is never sent anywhere.
  • Scans are still countable. Put a UTM-tagged link in the code and Google Analytics counts the visits.
Before you print

Three checks that save a reprint

  • Scan it on two phones, an iPhone and an Android, from the distance people will stand.
  • Size it for the distance. A rough rule is 1 cm of code for every 10 cm of scanning distance: 2 cm on a business card, 20 cm on a poster read from 2 metres.
  • Leave the white border. The quiet zone around the code is part of it. Cropping it off is the most common reason a printed code will not scan.

Common questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. What you type is stored in the pattern itself, so the code works for as long as the link, number or network it holds does, with no account and no subscription. Codes from sites that offer tracking and editing usually point to their own server first, and stop working when the subscription does.

Can I change where a code goes after printing?

Not with a static code: the destination is in the pattern. If you need to change it later, point the code at a page you control, such as yourbrand.com/menu, and change what that page shows instead.

How do I track scans?

Put a UTM-tagged link in the code, and the visits show up in Google Analytics under that campaign. The UTM builder makes the link and the code together.

How do I make a WhatsApp QR code?

Choose WhatsApp, type the number with its country code, and add an opening message if you like. Scanning it opens a chat with that number, with the message ready to send. It works for WhatsApp Business numbers too.

Can I put my logo in the middle?

Yes. The code switches to its highest error correction, which lets a camera read it with part of the pattern covered. Keep the logo simple, and scan the finished code with a phone before printing.

Do rounded and dotted QR codes still scan?

Yes. A style changes how each square of the code is drawn, not which squares are dark, so a rounded or dotted code carries exactly the same pattern as a plain one. Every combination of dots, corners and logo here was tested with a standard QR reader. Still, scan the final file with a phone once before printing.

Which colours work?

Dark dots on a light background, with a clear difference between them. Light dots on a dark background look good but many phone cameras cannot read them, so the generator warns you. Black on white is the safest for print.

PNG or SVG?

PNG for screens, slides and social posts; pick the largest size for print. SVG is a vector file for designers and printers: it stays sharp at any size, from a business card to a billboard.
